The Market Does Not Move the Same Way All DayMicron Technology, Inc.BATS:MUpullbacksignalLook at the chart. Now forget the indicators for a moment. Look at when the moves are happening. Markets do not behave exactly the same way throughout the day. Different sessions bring different levels of liquidity, participation and volatility. This doesn't mean: “Europe goes up.” Or: “New York always goes down.” It doesn't work like that. The important lesson is much simpler. Time changes the environment in which price moves. A quiet session can build a range. Another session can break that range. Liquidity can increase. Volatility can expand. A move that looked impossible a few hours earlier can suddenly happen in minutes. This is why I don't like looking at a setup completely isolated from the clock. A technical pattern may be valid. But the timing can still matter. And this is especially important for short-term traders. You don't need to predict exactly what Asia, Europe or the US session will do. You simply need to understand that the market has different periods of activity. That small change in perspective can make a chart much easier to read. Don't use time to predict price. Use time to understand the conditions in which price is moving. Risk Warning: This post is for educational purposes only and is not financial advice. Market conditions can change rapidly, especially during volatile sessions and major economic events. Never risk money you cannot afford to lose, and use a clearly defined risk limit for every trade.
