Malta’s U20 men’s water polo team signed off from the European Aquatics U20 Water Polo Championships with a hard-fought 15-12 victory over the Netherlands in the 9th-place classification match in Varna, Bulgaria.The Maltese youngsters produced an impressive attacking display, with Julian Chircop, Elijah Schembri and Luigi Dimech all finding the net three times to help guide Malta to victory.They were also backed up on the scoresheet by Dean Bugeja, Philip Tabone, Jayden Cassar, Julian Valletta, Jayden Cutajar and Sam Engerer, as Malta edged out the Dutch in a closely contested encounter.The result sees Malta finish its European campaign on a high note after a week of intense competition against some of the continent’s top youth water polo nations.
