Shattering the €3-million record set last year by the Night Of Thunder filly out of Prudenzia (Dansili), a colt by Wootton Bassett became the highest-priced yearling ever sold at the Arqana August Sale on Monday when knocked down to MV Magnier and White Birch Farm for €4.6 million.“I'm very proud of the team,” said Henri Bozo after the record-breaking sale capped a brilliant three days at Arqana for his Ecurie des Monceaux. “Very grateful for both Godolphin and Coolmore who are usual supporters of our farm. It's a great honour and a great responsibility because now the horse has to deliver, but I'm especially thankful for our team.”He added of lot 306, “I knew we were bringing an exceptional horse. He's always been very special, very powerful, very good-minded. Great walk, very easy to handle. Magnificent power and conformation. He's a very, very nice horse.”The colt is out of the Justify mare Deadly Nightshade, from a family that has produced countless top-level winners for the Coolmore partners over the years. They include Deadly Nightshade's full-brother Scandinavia, the champion stayer of his generation, and half-sister Above The Curve (American Pharoah), the winner of the G1 Prix Saint-Alary.Their dam, Fabulous (Galileo), is an unraced daughter of the blue hen Mariah's Storm (Rahy), making her a half-sister to the multiple Group 1-winning sire Giant's Causeway and outstanding producer You'resothrilling, both by Storm Cat. You'resothrilling, who gained her biggest success in the G2 Cherry Hinton Stakes, is herself the dam of seven individual black-type winners by Galileo since retiring to the paddocks, including the Classic winners Gleneagles, Joan Of Arc and Marvellous, plus the dual Group 1-winning juvenile Happily.
