By Mulengera ReportersThe Sino-Uganda Mbale Industrial Park is set for a major boost after Equity Bank Uganda and Tian Tang Group forged a strategic partnership aimed at expanding access to finance, strengthening enterprises and unlocking new opportunities across the industrial ecosystem. The partnership brings fresh financial firepower to an industrial hub that has grown into a significant manufacturing center, with Tian Tang Group supporting more than 2,000 enterprises and providing employment to about 15,000 Ugandans.Under the partnership, Equity Bank will provide tailored financial solutions, including working capital, business loans and corporate banking services, to help businesses expand production, invest in machinery and strengthen their day-to-day operations. But the partnership goes beyond putting money into businesses.Equity Bank Uganda will also support entrepreneurs and workers through financial literacy and business management training, focusing on practical areas such as cash-flow management, bookkeeping, financial discipline and corporate governance. The training is expected to help businesses build stronger financial records, improve their ability to access formal credit and position themselves for sustainable growth. As factories expand production, the impact is expected to ripple beyond the industrial park itself, creating opportunities for local suppliers, transporters, logistics companies, traders, construction firms, food businesses and other service providers in surrounding communities.Laurent Zhang, Administrative Manager at Tian Tang Group, said stronger collaboration between industrial enterprises and financial institutions would be critical to sustaining growth.“By strengthening this relationship, we can unlock the financial solutions needed to accelerate enterprise development and drive economic transformation,” he said.Equity Bank Uganda Managing Director Gift Shoko said the partnership reflects the bank’s commitment to supporting businesses and individuals as Uganda advances its industrialization agenda.“This initiative is dedicated to transforming lives within the local community, which directly aligns with our core mission to champion socio-economic prosperity and sustainable development,” Shoko said. With more than 50 branches, over 9,000 agency banking outlets and more than 2,000 merchants across Uganda, Equity Bank Uganda brings an extensive financial network to the partnership. For businesses operating within and around the industrial park, the expanded access to finance and business support could provide a critical platform for scaling operations, investing in equipment and strengthening their competitiveness. The partnership also underscores the growing connection between industrialization and financial inclusion. While factories provide the foundation for manufacturing growth, the wider economic impact depends on whether local businesses, workers and service providers can participate in and benefit from the expanding value chain. For Mbale and its surrounding communities, the Equity Bank-Tian Tang partnership therefore represents more than a financing arrangement. It signals an effort to ensure that industrial growth extends beyond factory gates, creating stronger enterprises, more jobs and broader economic opportunities across the region.
