E Jean CarrollThe Supreme Court has rejected President Donald Trump’s petition asking them to reconsider their earlier refusal to review a $5 million civil verdict in the case of writer E. Jean Carroll’s wild allegations. The unsigned order, issued as part of a broader list of actions from the court on Monday, ends Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2023 jury finding that he was liable for sexually abusing Carroll in the mid-1990s and later defaming her.No dissents were noted, and the court provided no explanation. This is the second time the Supreme Court has snubbed Trump on this case.In late June, the justices declined to take up his appeal of the verdict after the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals had upheld it.Trump’s legal team filed a petition for rehearing, arguing among other points that issues of presidential immunity raised in a related larger case could bear on this one as well. That request has now been denied, finalizing the judgment.According to reports, Carroll had already collected approximately $5.6 million from Trump in July, covering the original $5 million award plus accrued interest, which had been held in a court-controlled account pending the outcome of the rehearing request. With Monday’s order, the funds are no longer restricted.Carroll claimed in 2019 that President Trump assaulted her in a Bergdorf Goodman department store dressing room in Manhattan around 1996.In 2023, federal jury in ultra-blue New York found Trump liable for sexual abuse and defamation, awarding $5 million in damages. However, it did not find him liable for “rape” as Carroll had alleged.Trump has consistently denied any such encounter, stating repeatedly that he has never even met Carroll and that a decades-old photograph of them in a group setting does not establish otherwise. The president has described the claims as a politically motivated “hoax,” “con job,” and “scam.”A spokesman for Trump’s legal team responded to the Supreme Court’s decision in a statement that read, “The American People stand with President Trump as they demand an immediate end to all of the Witch Hunts, including the Democrat-funded travesty of the Carroll Hoaxes. President Trump will keep winning against Liberal Lawfare, as he continues to focus on his mission to Make America Great Again.”This echoes the president’s own earlier reactions after the June denial, when he wrote on Truth Social:Surprisingly, the Supreme Court declined to “review” a Fake Case brought against me by a woman I never met (Decades old celebrity photo line, standing with her husband, does not count!). I will continue the fight against this Weaponization and Lawfare Case against me, including the ridiculous claim of Defamation, with all of my power and strength. This Case is really against the United States of America, and all it stands for, and should never be allowed to happen to another President, or Candidate to be! New York State created a Law, for an instant speck of time, going back many decades, in order to wrongfully “nab” me. It was tailormade, and this Injustice cannot be allowed to stand! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMPThe post Ridiculous: Supreme Court Declines to Reconsider E.
