For the 40th time in 167 years, a filly has won the King's Plate.LUSTER (f, 3, Knicks Go–Ruby Frost, by The Factor) made easy work of this 12-strong field, coming from mid-flight under John Velazquez to romp by open lengths in the first leg of the Canadian Triple Crown.Breaking evenly from the rail, the 1-5 favorite was content to let the speed go ahead of her with one lap to go, settling in fourth just inside of the race's other filly, Dixie Law (Tiz the Law). Led upfront by Fire and Wine (Lexitonian) through fractions of :22.78 and :46.46, Velazquez kept his filly relaxed on the fence until it was time for the real running to begin.Tipped out as the other jockeys began to pump on their horses, Luster went from fourth to first in a matter of strides as Velazquez stayed motionless and in a blink was ahead by a clear margin.
