Watch: Malta To Host Fundraiser For Colombian Communities Struggling After Recent Tragedy

A group of Colombians living in Malta are coming together to support vulnerable communities back home following a recent tragedy that has left several small towns in urgent need of assistance.The fundraiser comes in the wake of a devastating 7.4-magnitude earthquake that struck western Colombia on 10th August, killing hundreds of people, injuring thousands and leaving entire communities without homes, schools and essential services.The initiative, called Hands For Colombia, was launched by Colombian psychologist Karen, alongside Natalie Miss Emprender and Angélica Nutritionist in Malta, with the aim of helping communities that have struggled to receive immediate aid.“Help takes a long time to reach small towns,” Karen explained in a video promoting the event. “That’s why we created Hands For Colombia.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by Lovin Malta (@lovinmalta)The group is now inviting the Maltese public to join them for a family-friendly fundraising event in St Julian’s this Sunday combining entertainment, culture and community spirit for a good cause.Guests can look forward to live music, a Zumba session, activities for children and a major charity auction featuring a range of donated products, services and experiences.Organisers are also encouraging businesses and individuals to contribute items or services to the auction, with all proceeds going directly towards supporting communities affected by the tragedy.Those unable to attend can still make a contribution through direct donations.The event will take place on Sunday, 23rd August, at The Gully in St Julian’s, starting from 4pm.Anyone interested in donating, contributing auction items or learning more can contact the organisers on 7706 3493. Share to help such a great cause!•
