Lisa Micallef Makes Maltese Aviation History With US Master Technician Award

Staff Sergeant Lisa Micallef has become the first Maltese person to receive the prestigious Master Technician Award from FlightSafety International in Wichita, Kansas.The Armed Forces of Malta announced the achievement today, describing it as a significant milestone for both Micallef and the AFM Air Wing.The award is granted following an intensive programme focused on advanced troubleshooting, safety and operational excellence.Micallef earned the qualification after successfully completing six specialised technical training courses on the King Air B200 aircraft series.The achievement adds to an already impressive list of milestones during her nine years with the Air Wing.Micallef was the first female technician in her section to obtain an EASA Mechanical Aircraft Maintenance Licence, the first female technician in the Air Wing to obtain an EASA Avionics Aircraft Maintenance Licence, and the first Air Wing member to hold both qualifications.She has also completed an Advanced Diploma in Aviation Maintenance at the University of Malta.The AFM said Micallef’s achievements reflect her dedication, technical expertise and commitment to professional development, while contributing to the continued strengthening of the Air Wing’s capabilities.Congratulations to Staff Sergeant Lisa Micallef!•
