A 41-year-old man is at risk of dying following a vehicle fire and crash in Żebbuġ earlier today.The Qormi resident was driving along Triq il-Mitħna at around midday when, according to preliminary police investigations, the vehicle’s battery caught fire.The flames spread through the vehicle, causing the driver to lose control before crashing into the parapet of a private residence.Members of the Civil Protection Department and a Mater Dei medical team were called to the scene to assist.The man was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance, where he was later certified as having suffered serious injuries.Magistrate Renata Farrugia has opened an inquiry, while police investigations into the incident remain ongoing.•
