Dual Group 1 winner Vandeek will miss the Southern Hemisphere covering season after sustaining a tendon injury in quarantine, Arrowfield Stud announced on X. The son of Havana Grey was due to cover his second book of mares Down Under.“Vandeek sustained an injury to a tendon in his hind limb while undergoing quarantine in Victoria,” Arrowfield Stud said of the Prix Morny and Middle Park Stakes winner in a statement. “Following consultation with the veterinary team responsible for his care, it has been determined that the injury and the rehabilitation period required will prevent Vandeek from undertaking stallion duties during the 2026 Southern Hemisphere breeding season.“Vandeek continues to make encouraging progress and is expected to make a full recovery.”The half-brother to G1 Irish 2000 Guineas hero and GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf victor Gstaad (Starspangledbanner) stands at Cheveley Park Stud in the Northern Hemisphere, where his first foals arrived this spring.
