Just weeks after helping raise €25,000 for animal shelters during Malta’s summer power cuts, comedian and presenter James Ryder is once again stepping up for animal welfare.Ryder will host Stand Up for Strays, a comedy fundraiser organised by Vuċi għall-Annimali to support stray cats across Malta. The event, set to take place at Teatru Salesjan in Sliema on 13th September, will feature some of Malta’s best-known comedians, including Steve Hili, Dan Diacono, Tim Borg, Miguel Muscat and Ed Vassallo. The fundraiser follows Ryder’s hugely successful July appeal for Carers for Stray and Abandoned Felines (CSAF), which raised €25,000 in just eight hours after the shelter was left without electricity during Malta’s nationwide power cuts. The campaign exceeded its original target and was later expanded to help other shelters prepare for future blackouts and extreme heat. Now, Ryder is hoping to channel that same community spirit into another initiative aimed at improving the lives of stray cats around the Maltese Islands.“We’re inviting people to come together for an evening of great comedy while making a real difference to the lives of animals in need. Every laugh will help support the work being done for Malta’s stray cats.”All proceeds from the event will go towards rescue efforts, veterinary treatment, neutering programmes and rehoming initiatives. With a strong comedy line-up and a cause that has already captured the hearts of many animal lovers, Stand Up for Strays is expected to be one of the season’s standout charity events. The event starts at 8pm and is open to those aged 18 and over. Tickets are available through ShowsHappening.Share with an animal lover!•
