Nifty Analysis EOD – August 20, 2026 – ThursdayNifty 50 IndexNSE:NIFTYkzatakia🟢 Nifty Analysis EOD – August 20, 2026 – Thursday 🔴 Twelve-Session Wait Ends: Nifty Clears PDH, Tags 24,265 Before Fading 🗞 Nifty Summary The day started with a gap-up opening of 147 points above PDH, landing right near the resistance level of 24,230. After the opening tick, Nifty found base 40 points below at 24,190 — a level that was earlier acting as resistance — and stayed inside a tight IB range of just 40 points for a while. Around 12:45 PM, a short-covering rally broke that range with real momentum, sharply clearing resistance after resistance — the MC Box, IBH, the STF Trendline, and the 24,230 level — before testing the LTF Trendline and even making an attempt at PPDH (24,269, missed by just a few points). That push marked the day high at 24,265.15. From there, profit booking crept in and price got stuck moving 10–15 points either way, gradually retesting the floor of the earlier consolidation zone. By 3:15 PM the index closed at 24,211.6, while the CAS close came in 20 points higher at 24,231.85 — a gap between the two closes worth keeping in mind rather than reading too much into. It was also Sensex expiry day, and option prices looked inflated — like everybody was betting on a close in their favour. The hope was extreme, and even in the last 2-3 minutes, OTM prices went abnormal, only for that premium to be pocketed by sellers in the end. As an option buyer, I just watched and waited for something to show up, and walked away disappointed again. Overall it was a mixed-vibes day — bulls kept trying to drag price up, bears kept pushing back on every rise, and that tug of war shows up clearly on the candle as a spinning top. After 12 sessions, today was the first day price crossed and closed above PDH. The bigger question now is whether this was a Dead Cat Bounce or an actual reversal sign — I’ll wait for a close above 24,270 before shifting my short-term bias to bullish, and will plan any trade cautiously based on what IB is telling me. 🛡 5 Min Intraday Chart with Levels 📉 Daily Time Frame Chart with Intraday Levels 🕯 Daily Candle Breakdown Open: 24,225.45 High: 24,265.15 Low: 24,184.55 Close: 24,231.85 Change: +153.55 points (+0.64%) 🏗️ Structure Breakdown Type: Spinning Top (Indecision) — a real tug-of-war between buyers and sellers with almost nothing settled by the close Range: ≈ 80.60 points — low volatility Body: ≈ 6.40 points — barely any net progress either way, a near-stalemate between the two sides Upper Wick: ≈ 33.30 points — sellers showed up near the day high and rejected higher levels Lower Wick: ≈ 40.90 points — buyers stepped in on dips and defended the floor 🛡 5 Min Intraday Chart ⚔️ Gladiator Strategy Update ATR: 168.5 IB Range: 107.75 → Medium Market Structure: ImBalanced Trade Highlights: 10:49 Long Trade: SL Hit 11:56 Long Trade: Target Hit (R:R 1:3.07) 13:55 Short Trade: Early Exit with minor profit (R:R 1:0.62) Trade Summary: The first long got stopped out early, which is just part of trading a whipsaw open — nothing wrong with the system there. The second long more than made up for it, hitting target for a 3.07R win and doing exactly what the setup was built to do. The short in the afternoon I closed early for a small profit rather than let it run, which in hindsight left a bit on the table, but I’d rather be a conservative trader on expiry day than greedy. Overall, a green day, and I’m glad I didn’t push for more after that second trade. 🧱 Support & Resistance Levels Resistance Zones: 24,270 | 24,335 ~ 24,365 | 24,430 Support Zones: 24,190 | 24,135 | 24,085 ~ 24,040 🧠 Final Thoughts “Crossing a line doesn’t settle the argument underneath it — the market still owes an explanation.” Twelve sessions of staying under PDH, and today it finally broke — but the spinning top on the close tells me the bulls didn’t really win the argument, they just showed up to it. That’s the part I’m sitting with tonight more than the breakout itself. If 24,270 gets taken out and closed above, I’ll start leaning bullish for the short term. If it holds as resistance instead, I’d expect price to drift back toward 24,190, and maybe even 24,135 if that floor gives way too. Tomorrow I’m not assuming anything — just watching to see if this was real strength or a bounce that fades. Letting IB confirm the story before I commit to a side feels like the right way to go into it. ✏️ Disclaimer This is my personal digital diary and represents my own analysis and point of view.
