From a €4.6-million record-breaker to 10 seven-figure yearlings and another dominant showing from Ecurie des Monceaux, here are the key takeaways from three days of selling at Arqana.1). €4.6m French RecordThe French yearling record was smashed when Coolmore paid €4.6 million for Ecurie des Monceaux's Wootton Bassett colt, eclipsing the €3m record set by a Monceaux-consigned Night Of Thunder filly last year. Coolmore had sold the colt in utero when his dam was bought by Monceaux for 900,000gns less than two years ago.2). Monceaux Account for 30% of TurnoverFor the 15th consecutive year, Ecurie des Monceaux finished as leading vendor, selling 35 yearlings for €19.97m, an extraordinary 30% of the entire sale turnover.3). Ten Seven-Figure YearlingsThere were 10 seven-figure yearlings across the three days, surpassing last year's total of eight and highlighting the exceptional strength at the top of the market.4). By The Numbers The average rose 4.6% to €279,283, while the median dipped slightly from €165,000 to €160,000. The clearance rate held steady at 79%, with 233 of 294 yearlings offered finding buyers.5). Godolphin Goes Big With €13.3m SpendGodolphin spent €13.3m on nine yearlings, accounting for a remarkable 20% of the €65.868m aggregate. Overall turnover increased 9.5% year-on-year.6). Kia Versus Mike!Amo Racing's Kia Joorabchian fought off Mike Repole to land a €615,000 Frankel filly, a sister to Pikachu. After the hammer fell, Repole's agent Alex Solis handed Joorabchian his phone with the warning: “He's not happy with you!”7). Sheikh Fahad Buys Constitution River Half-SisSheikh Fahad Al Thani went to €430,000 for the Kodiac half-sister to dual Group 1 winner Constitution River. Purchased through David Redvers, she will head to Ireland.8). First-Season Sires Make Their Mark The market responded strongly to several first-season sires.
