OTHERS/BTC - Altcoin Season is Closer Than You ThinkRatio Total Market Cap Excluding Top 10 to BTCCRYPTOCAP:OTHERSBTCVIAQUANTAltcoins are in the spotlight today, as many have seen 20% to 30% increases since Bitcoin's breakout. However, that is not the full picture, and the market may actually be getting closer to a real rotation into altcoins from Bitcoin than most people think. For more context on why and how this might unfold, I highly recommend reviewing this idea: Historically, altcoins do not hold up better than Bitcoin during bear markets. If anything, the opposite is true. Altcoins tend to fall much harder than Bitcoin as capital consolidates into Bitcoin as the relative safe haven within crypto, and Bitcoin dominance typically rises throughout the decline as a result. However, once Bitcoin's bear market bottoms and stabilizes, that is historically when the rotation into altcoins begins, often with a lag of a few months after Bitcoin dominance peaks. This pattern played out clearly in both 2019 and late 2020, where the combination of high Bitcoin dominance and depressed altcoin performance marked the point of maximum pessimism rather than the start of continued weakness, ultimately preceding some of the most profitable altcoin rallies of those cycles. If you are under the assumption that Bitcoin is nearing a bear market bottom or has already experienced the bear market bottom then pay attention. OTHERS/BTC is our indicator for when that rotation is likely to begin. Of course, altcoins, especially those outside the top 10, remain extremely risky. But the market structure developing here is genuinely interesting. Since the breakout, OTHERS has continued to bleed against BTC, meaning everything outside the top 10 is still showing less relative strength than Bitcoin itself. However, this chart is approaching one of its most crucial tests of the cycle. In this idea I have outlined a level labeled "Watch for Retest." If OTHERS/BTC is able to successfully retest the white trendline and hold it as support, that could become the launching point for cryptocurrencies outside the top 10 to begin gaining strength against Bitcoin. If and when this occurs, it is possible we see one of the most significant altcoin seasons in some time, driven by the suppression and Bitcoin-fueled ETF frenzy of the last cycle that held these assets down. Almost no one wants to talk about altcoins anymore, but if you have been in this space long enough, you understand how quickly that sentiment can shift. I am projecting that the next cycle will see a resurgence in altcoins, and I will be here updating you along the way, so stay tuned!
