Veteran singer Blackboy opened up about a dramatic incident involving fellow musicians Bebe Cool and Red Banton during the early days of Uganda’s music industry.Speaking in an interview, Blackboy recalled that the incident happened at Club Ange Noir where Bebe Cool allegedly confronted Red Banton, locked him in the boot of his car and drove him to the police station.According to Blackboy, Bebe Cool accused Red Banton of being overly supportive of fellow singer Jose Chameleone, sparking a confrontation that left a lasting impression on those in the industry at the time.Blackboy also explained why he eventually stepped away from the music industry for several years.He said the constant fights, conflicts and confrontations among artists made him uncomfortable, especially because he was not a violent person.“I stepped away because there were many fights and conflicts in the industry. I am not a man of violence, so I decided to quit,” he explained.Blackboy revealed that he started his music career in 1999 as a young upcoming artist who looked up to established stars such as Shanks and Ragga Dee, among others.He also spoke about the early formation of the Fire Base Crew, revealing that he was among the artists who initiated the crew alongside Bobi Wine and Toolman.
