Payson Stud President Christian Erickson, prominent owner/breeder Jonathan Green, and trainer Gary Mandella have been appointed to the Thoroughbred Charities of America (TCA) Board of Directors, the group announced Friday. Additionally, Mike McMahon was reappointed president, Marette Farrell was named vice-president, Shannon Griffin was named secretary, and Marshall Gramm was reappointed treasurer.That trio joins current TCA Directors Ben Bernhard, Carrie Brogden, Torie Gladwell, Ryan Mahan, Dan Metzger, Liam O'Rourke, Mandy Pope, Cathy Shircliff, Brook Smith, and Jesse Ullery.Formed in 1990, Thoroughbred Charities of America (TCA) raises and distributes funds to charities in the Thoroughbred industry that fund and facilitate the support of Thoroughbreds and the people who care for them. In 2025 alone, TCA granted over $1.1 million to 98 charities working within Thoroughbred retraining, rehoming and retirement; backstretch and farm worker services, research and equine-assisted therapy. Over the last 36 years, TCA has granted more than $28 million to more than 200 charities that successfully meet the criteria set forth in its annual grant application. TCA also administers the Horses First Fund, founded by LNJ Foxwoods in 2016, to assist Thoroughbreds in need of emergency aid.
