Four held for illegal sale of muscle-building injections in Hyderabad - The HinduUpdated - August 21, 2026 08:42 pm IST - HYDERABADThe seized Mephentermine Sulphate injections among other items. | Photo Credit: By ArrangementThe Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force, along with Goshamahal police, arrested four persons for allegedly procuring, selling and consuming Mephentermine Sulphate injections without valid prescriptions, and seized 50 vials of the drug along with other material.The arrested persons were identified as Gowtham Singh, 24, the main supplier; R. Abhilash, 19, a sub-supplier; and consumers Siddesh Aundekar, 19, and Daksh Upadhyay, 20.According to the police, Gowtham and Abhilash were gym friends and initially consumed Mephentermine Sulphate injections for muscle growth. Gowtham allegedly later decided to sell the injections to make money and contacted an unidentified supplier in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, through WhatsApp.Police said the supplier allegedly dispatched the injections through courier for ₹160 per vial. Gowtham, with the assistance of Abhilash, allegedly sold them to customers in Goshamahal for ₹900 a vial.Acting on a tip-off, the Task Force’s Golconda Zone team and Goshamahal police intercepted Gowtham and Abhilash near the Hyderabad Plastic Company godown at MJ Bridge, Begum Bazaar, when they were carrying the injections for sale to Siddesh and Daksh.Police seized 50 vials of Mephentermine Sulphate injections, five empty vials, five BD U-40 insulin injections, four mobile phones and a Burgman two-wheeler. The seized property was valued at ₹1.85 lakh, police said.Police said the injections were being sold without a valid licence or doctor’s prescription. The case was registered at Goshamahal police station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.The Task Force said the injections were in demand among young people seeking rapid muscle growth and were also used for treating low blood pressure.
