Air India fined Rs 60,000: An elderly couple from Punjab's SBS Nagar district booked specific seats on an Air India flight for a long-haul journey. At boarding, the airline shifted them to seats with less legroom, separating the husband and wife and forcing a hip replacement patient to sit cramped for 14 hours. The resulting physical ordeal left him bedridden for a month. After the district commission awarded a meagre Rs 40,000, the Punjab State Consumer Commission has now enhanced the compensation to Rs 60,000.
