A four-year-old boy has been swept away by the River Adjei at Nurses Junction in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, triggering an intensive search and rescue operation.The incident occurred at about 2:30 p.m. on Saturday when the child was walking with his two older siblings, aged seven and nine, to visit their mother, who sells roasted corn at Nurses Junction.According to an eyewitness, Habiba Armani, the children were crossing a bridge over the river when the four-year-old accidentally stepped onto the sloping edge.He lost his balance, fell into the fast-flowing river, and was swept away by the strong current before anyone could rescue him.The children’s mother, upon hearing the news, rushed to the scene and reportedly attempted to jump into the river in a desperate effort to save her son. However, residents at the scene restrained her to prevent another tragedy.Community members and rescue teams immediately launched a search for the missing child, but as of the time of filing this report, he had not been found.Traditional leaders in the area have performed customary rites, including the pouring of libation, as the search continues in the hope of locating the child.
