Melcom Limited has confirmed that a fire broke out at one of its warehouse facilities at the Tema Free Zones enclave on Saturday, July 4, assuring the public that no casualties or injuries were recorded in the incident.In a statement issued by management of the Melcom Group of Companies on Sunday, July 5, the company said the fire affected one of its warehouse facilities but noted that the safety and well-being of its employees, partners and surrounding communities remained its highest priority.“We are deeply thankful that there were no casualties or injuries resulting from the incident,” the statement said.Melcom also expressed gratitude to the Ghana National Fire Service, the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), the Ghana Police Service, emergency personnel and other first responders for their swift intervention in bringing the situation under control.According to Melcom, its management is currently working with the relevant authorities to assess the incident and determine the cause of the fire, while also undertaking an internal review of the damage caused.The company acknowledged that the incident had significantly affected its operations but assured customers that efforts were underway to restore normal business activities with minimal disruption.“Although this incident has heavily impacted us, we are committed to restoring operations with minimal interruptions and will do our best to ensure availability of stocks to continue to serve our esteemed customers,” it stated.The retail giant also thanked its employees, customers, business partners, stakeholders and members of the public for their concern and support following the incident.PRESS STATEMENT_MELCOM CONFIRMS FIRE INCIDENT AT TEMA FREE ZONES WAREHOUSE copyDownload
