Vivoli Il Gelato has been one of the better arguments for Disney Springs.Not the flashiest thing in the district, and not the one people plan trips around, but a legitimately excellent gelato shop with a real lineage. The original Vivoli opened in Florence in 1930, which means the family has been doing this for nearly a century, and it shows in ways that set it apart from the dessert counters Orlando is otherwise full of.The catch has always been getting to it.Disney Springs does not require a park ticket, which people forget, but it does require the rest of the Disney Springs experience. Parking in a garage. Walking the district. Navigating a shopping and dining destination engineered to slow you down and separate you from your money on the way to whatever you actually came for. For a resort guest already there, fine. For a local who simply wants gelato on a Tuesday, it is a whole outing.That just changed.Vivoli Il Gelato has opened a fifth Orlando-area location at Flamingo Crossings Town Center, and it is not a smaller satellite of the Disney shops. It is bigger, has features the Disney locations do not, and is roughly five minutes off-property. The larger space gives the company room to experiment, and new flavors and creations may debut there before appearing anywhere else.Sit with what that means.Normally, the relationship runs the other direction. The Disney location gets the exclusive, the special version, the thing you can only find inside the bubble. Off-property outposts get the standard menu.This inverts it. The flavor was served at Disney Springs years ago and has been brought back here.A limited-time Tiramisu Affogato, built with the tiramisu gelato, espresso, and ladyfingers.Crème de Café, a frozen cappuccino-style drink, which is not served at any other Vivoli location in Orlando.Seasonal rotations are planned as well, with holiday flavors and drinks already in the works.Take-Home Pints Are New for VivoliThis is a format change rather than just a menu addition.Grab-and-go pints are available from the shop’s freezer, featuring flavors also found at Disney Springs, including coconut and peanut butter. Selection varies based on availability.That is the first time Vivoli has offered take-home pints in Orlando, and it is the single biggest practical difference for locals. Gelato you eat in the shop is a trip. Gelato in your freezer is a habit.A Detail Allergy Families Should KnowThis one is genuinely useful and it is buried in most coverage.The Flamingo Crossings location is fully peanut-free. Peanut-containing gelato is not produced or scooped there at all. The peanut butter pints sold in the freezer are made at Disney Springs and brought over prepackaged.For families managing a peanut allergy, a dedicated peanut-free production and service environment is rare and worth knowing about, particularly in a dessert category where cross-contact is a constant concern.Worth being precise, though. Peanut-free is not allergen-free. This is a gelato shop, so dairy is everywhere, and tree nuts, gluten, and other allergens are still very much present. A shop open until 10 p.m. across the street from that population has a built-in customer base that has nothing to do with tourists.It is also about five minutes from Walt Disney World property, which puts it in reach of the growing cluster of off-property hotels and vacation rentals in that corridor.Credit: DisneyWhat It Means for Disney World LocalsIf you live in Central Florida, this is the version of Vivoli that actually fits into a normal week.No garage. No district. No walk. You park in front of it, you get gelato, you leave. And now you can take a pint home.For Disney visitors, the calculation is different but still worth making. If you are staying off property on the western side, Flamingo Crossings is closer and easier than driving to Disney Springs, and it is currently the only place to get the tiramisu.The Disney Springs and Riviera locations are not going anywhere.
