Michel Vorm is delighted with how one Tottenham youngster has developed over the last six months, lavishing praise on the character he showed during the club’s relegation battle last season.Tottenham Hotspur have conceded eight goals in their five matches this season, which has led to their defence coming under scrutiny.Questions have also been asked about the club’s goalkeeping situation, with some pundits suggesting Spurs should have signed an experienced goalkeeper in the summer rather than trusting Antonin Kinsky. However, according to reports, Tottenham have no plans to replace Kinsky in January, with Roberto De Zerbi having full faith in his number one.Credit: @thatfootballphotog / InstagramMichel Vorm believes Antonin Kinsky was Tottenham’s best player during the relegation battleIt seemed like Kinsky’s time at Tottenham may be up six months ago when the goalkeeper was taken off in the 17th minute of the Champions League tie against Atletico Madrid after gifting the La Liga side a couple of goals.Vorm showered praise on the young goalkeeper for bouncing back from that adversity and insisted that he was the club’s best player in their final seven games of last season after De Zerbi arrived through the door. When asked about Kinsky’s setback at Madrid, the former Spurs shot-stopper told the club’s official website: “Yes, what happened there, you don’t see it often in football. So, that says a lot, and especially as a goalkeeper, you need confidence, even if you make mistakes. In this case, and he hadn’t played a lot at that time, you make mistakes, and you come off. It’s a huge game.“So, if you then see how he came back, it says a lot. He’s still a young goalkeeper. I followed him prior to Spurs, and you could see he was very talented, but I think how he has responded to this will shape him for the rest of his career.”When asked about the pressure that was on Kinsky during Tottenham’s relegation battle, Vorm said: “Absolutely immense. In my last season at Swansea, I had the same. We were fighting against relegation, and every game is a battle. After what happened, there was even more pressure on Kinsky.“To be honest, I think he probably was the best player over those six, seven games he played at the end of last season. So, that shows his character. I go back to what I said before, I think this will shape his whole career.”A. It’s very interesting for me to see now, and not only at Tottenham… in football now, you’re almost one of the outfield players. This is interesting to see, because it’s not only at Tottenham, but you see it at national teams, you see it at different clubs.“It suited my style of play as well. So, it would be different if I played now, in this day and age, but I think if you see what Kinsky can do with the ball at his feet, and goalkeeping-wise in general, I think he has it all. So, as a Tottenham fan, I’m very happy he plays for us. I think he could be brilliant, and he already showed that.”READ MORE: Harry Kane reacts to Man City’s 114 charges after Pochettino shows Tottenham angerThe post 'Very happy he plays for us' - Michel Vorm says Tottenham have a £12.5m gem on their hands appeared first on Spurs Web.
