Last year's GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf winner Balantina has been added to the star-studded cast for the Tattersalls December Mares Sale, which takes place from Monday, November 30 to Thursday, December 3. The daughter of Ten Sovereigns will be offered as part of the fifth edition of the Sceptre Sessions.Trained by Donnacha O'Brien, Balantina's productive two-year-old campaign also yielded a third-place finish in the G3 Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot and a runner-up effort in the G3 Prix Six Perfections at Deauville, prior to her Breeders' Cup victory at Del Mar. She was last seen finishing third behind the multiple Group 1 winners Blue Bolt and Precise in July's G1 Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket.“Balantina capped off an outstanding two-year-old season with a dominant victory in the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf,” said Mark Taylor of Taylor Made Sales, who will consign the filly on behalf of her ownership group.“She showed she was right there with Europe's best three-year-old fillies when finishing third in the Group 1 Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes, only behind Blue Bolt and Precise. She is an outstanding physical hailing from a deep Aga Khan pedigree and we think she is an exciting prospect for both breeders and racing stables, who may want to run her in 2027.”Balantina is out of the Montjeu mare Balankiyla, who is also the dam of the G3 Prix de Royaumont winner Baiykara (Zarak) and is herself a half-sister to the GI Secretariat Stakes winner Bayrir (Medicean). Balankiyla's granddam is the Listed winner Balanka (Alzao), who was also placed in the G2 Prix de l'Opera. In 2025, Taylor Made Sales Agency consigned Porta Fortuna when she sold for 4.5 millions gns during the Sceptre Sessions. Their draft for this year also includes the Group 3-winning and Group 1-placed Atsila (Phoenix Of Spain) and the Listed Marygate Stakes winner Secret Hideaway (Starspangledbanner), a half-sister to this year's G1 Prix Morny runner-up Carry The Flag (No Nay Never).Tattersalls managing director Matthew Prior added, “Balantina is an exciting addition to what promises to be another outstanding renewal of the Tattersalls December Mares Sale. We are delighted to welcome the Taylor Made team back to Park Paddocks with another outstanding draft, following the phenomenal sale of Porta Fortuna last year.“The Sceptre Sessions were established to showcase exceptional fillies such as Balantina, and we look forward to presenting her to the leading names from across the global bloodstock industry who gather at Park Paddocks each December.“The quality and depth of fillies and mares heading to the Sceptre Sessions continues to build, and we are very much looking forward to another exceptional renewal of Europe's premier breeding stock sale.”The post Breeders’ Cup Heroine Balantina Joins Elite Group for Tattersalls Sceptre Sessions appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
