This is in response to several DMs I recieved over the past few months, where I was asked how to build a career in inference. I was also yearner like many of you and was also feeling uncertain about where to start. I worked with a major player in the inference provider industry, and then realised I wouldn't need a GPU at all for many of the layers of engineering required around inference. I contributed to open source also without any GPUs, and there are several CPU level engineering you can do and learn about this field.
