Malta had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Gibraltar at the National Stadium in Ta’ Qali last night, despite dominating large spells of the match. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Lovin Malta (@lovinmalta)The clash formed part of the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League, League D Group 1, with more than 4,000 spectators in attendance.Joseph Mbong finally broke the deadlock for Malta in the 53rd minute, converting an Ilyas Chouaref cross after the hosts had created a string of opportunities.However, Malta’s advantage lasted just eight minutes, with James Scanlon equalising for Gibraltar in the 61st minute after his effort took a deflection on its way into the net.Malta pushed for a winner and came agonisingly close late on, with Zach Muscat hitting the woodwork in the closing stages before the full-time whistle confirmed the 1-1 draw.Despite dropping two points, Malta remain top of their Nations League group with four points, ahead of Gibraltar on two and Andorra on one.
