The Mangaluru railway region has officially shifted from the Palakkad Division of Southern Railway to the Mysuru Division of South Western Railway after decades under Palakkad. Operational control changed from Thursday, while administrative and financial separation is expected to take another 30 to 45 days. Meanwhile, railway users have raised concerns over changes to the Mangaluru-Madgaon Vande Bharat service.
