The event was organised as a prelude to the conference of the International Union for Quaternary Research (INQUA) planned in Lucknow in 2027. The workshop brings together scientists and researchers to discuss quaternary climate and environmental change, sedimentary processes, landscape evolution, coastal changes and geohazards in Southern India, NCESS said.Rasik Ravindra, Former Director, National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR), Goa, inaugurated the workshop.Pradeep Srivastava, Department of Earth Sciences, IIT Roorkee, NCESS director N. V. Chalapathi Rao, Binita Phartiyal, Scientist, Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences (BSIP), Lucknow and General Secretary, INQUA India 2027, and J. K.
