Interactive Brokers Reports 5.6M Client Accounts in September, DARTs at 4.1M

Interactive BrokersGroup, Inc. (Nasdaq: IBKR) reported its electronic brokerage performancemetrics for September, with client balances and account numbers higher than ayear earlier.Daily average revenuetrades reached 4.11 million during the month. This was 6% higher than inSeptember 2025 but 4% lower than in August.Interactive Brokers has also made severalrecent changes to its platform and market access. In July, the broker extendedits AI account connector to applications including Claude Code, Cursor,Perplexity and Windsurf. It also provided TickmillUK with access to its multi-asset trading infrastructure. Earlier in theyear, InteractiveBrokers added direct access to South Korean equities and introducedlocal funding options in Latin America through SafetyPay. More recently,it integrated its platform with X Cashtags, allowing users to move fromeligible content on X to trading.Interactive Brokers Client EquityReaches $965BClient equity stood at$964.7 billion at the end of September. It increased 27% year over year and wasroughly unchanged from the previous month. Margin loans rose to$105.2 billion, up 36% from a year earlier and4% from August.Client credit balancesreached $186.2 billion. The balance was 20% higher than a year earlier androughly flat month over month. It included $6.4 billion in insured bank depositsweeps, which Interactive Brokers said are not held on its balance sheet.Client accountsreached 5.576 million at the end of September. This was 35% higher than a yearearlier and 2% above August.Interactive BrokersFaced August DisruptionSeparately, an Augustincident involved loginand connectivity problems for some Interactive Brokers clients during UStrading hours. Finance Magnates independently encountered login issues, whileIBKR later said the problem affected “a fraction of a percent” of clients withaccounts hosted in certain APAC data centres. The broker said access wasrestored within an hour.
