I spent months building a game about Mexican culture because I couldn't find one that felt like Mexico

Wait 5 sec.

Months ago, I started building something that probably nobody asked for. A game about Mexico. Not another generic trivia game about capitals, history, or geography. I wanted to make something that actually felt like Mexico. The words you hear in everyday conversation. The things only a Mexican would recognize. The food. The iconic characters. The childhood nostalgia. The sayings. The pop culture. And those distinct everyday moments that make you immediately think, "Yeah, that is so Mexican." That’s how Mexicanario was born. At first, I thought it would be relatively simple. Spoiler: it wasn't. I ended up spending way more time than expected designing levels, figuring out how to present the words, creating different game modes, working on progression systems, mascots, coins, sound effects—and above all, trying to keep it from feeling like just another dry educational app. I even had to overhaul parts of it because certain screens were way too cluttered and left players confused about what to do next. After months of work, I’ve finally reached the point where I can say: Mexicanario is finished. And now comes the scariest part for any developer: showing it to people. I'm still waiting to publish the iOS version since my Apple Developer account approval is currently pending, but I decided not to wait to start sharing the project. So, I want to try something. If you’re Mexican: What word, character, food, expression, or reference MUST be in Mexicanario? And if you’re not Mexican: What’s something about Mexico you’d love to learn while playing? Here are a few screenshots of the game, because after spending so much time building it, I just need to get it out of my local environment and see what people think. If anyone is interested, I’d also love to show how Mexicanario started vs. how it turned out after all these months. Mexicanario in googleplay submitted by /u/Hour_Cod6569 [link] [comments]
