I rebuild Barcodepedia 20 years after the original release.

Wait 5 sec.

About 20 years ago I build barcodepedia.com as a simple wiki style barcode database with a Macromedia Flash webcam barcode scanner. It event went viral on Slashdot (Yes that used to mean something!). Back then data quality always ended up being the largest issue, but with modern API's and ML models it's now possible to build the product database I always wanted to build. The goal is simple. If it has a barcode, Barcodepedia will show all relevant information. Who owns it, who made it, what's in it, what's changed over time, where to buy it, what people think of the product etc. Still only a three weeks old but growing better with updates daily. Feedback is incredibly welcome, would love to know how I can make the product better, what information to include I don't already have, how to show things better etc, etc, etc. submitted by /u/Benjaminsen [link] [comments]
