hey all, started tutoring a few months back (hs math, like 8 students rn) and the teaching part is fine but the admin is already kicking my ass lol right now it's spreadsheet + me going through my texts every sunday night trying to piece together who had a lesson when. last weekend i spent like 2 hours just reconciling because one kid rescheduled twice, another paid cash mid-month, and a third venmo'd me with no note so i had no idea which sessions it covered. felt like doing taxes and the worst part is the chasing - i had to text one mom for the third time about an unpaid invoice last month and i felt like such an asshole. like i'm their kid's teacher, not a debt collector, you know? for those of you doing this a while - what actually works? do you log right after each lesson or batch it? is there an app actually worth it at this size or is spreadsheet the move? i looked at a couple of the bigger ones (tutorbird etc) but $17/mo feels steep when i'm this small and tbh it looks like way more than i need appreciate any real-world takes, thanks submitted by /u/Luke_Zhang [link] [comments]
