GI Arkansas Derby winner and Kentucky Derby runner-up Renegade (Into Mischief) will receive time off the rest of the year for bone bruising. In news first reported by the Daily Racing Form, the Robert and Lawana Low homebred now co-owned by Mike Repole will be sidelined the rest of the year with hopes of a 4-year-old campaign in 2027.“I don't think it's significant,” trainer Todd Pletcher told DRF's Dave Grening. “We're hoping [out of training] in the neighborhood of 60 days and go back into training with a 4-year-old campaign in mind. Obviously, that's going to exclude anything happening in Saudi and Dubai, but we're hoping to have a relatively full campaign.”An earner of north of $2.5 million, Renegade broke his maiden in the Sam F. Davis Stakes earlier this year before winning the Arkansas Derby at Oaklawn Park to stamp his Derby ticket. Runner-up behind Golden Tempo (Curlin) at Churchill in May, he then ran third in the GI Belmont Stakes at Saratoga before winning the GII Jim Dandy Stakes Aug. 1.
