The MX-6HD is offered in four options: PR2-MIL, Tremor 4, TMR and a new FOV reticle. The FOV reticle is a simple circle marking the edge of the field of view at 48x. Two more reticles, the H32 and MIL-GRID 6, are reserved for military and law enforcement buyers. Because the reticle sits in the first focal plane, it grows and shrinks with the target, so the spotter can use it at any magnification. If the shooter uses the same reticle, it’s all going to make a lot of sense. The scope is built around Leupold's Professional-Grade Optical System. Leupold says it delivers bright low-light resolution, strong glare reduction and edge-to-edge clarity for positive long-range identification. The 8-48 zoom range is deliberate: the low 8x setting is meant to work with night vision, while 48x covers long-distance observation. It is designed to operate much like a riflescope, with a side image focus and an independent eyepiece diopter, so the image and reticle can be sharpened separately. Leupold uses a folded light path and a magnesium housing to keep the scope compact and light. The listed length is 13.9 inches and the weight is 51.7 ounces. Removable Picatinny and M-LOK rails let users attach laser designators, thermal or night vision devices and other accessories. Dual Arca-Swiss mounting surfaces allow quick tripod mounting, with integrated 1/4-20 threads for other tripods. The scope comes with flip-up lens covers, interchangeable eyecups and a heavy-duty hard case.
