Anthony Joshua has revealed that Tyson Fury’s uncle and former trainer, Peter, has been giving him pearls of wisdom in the lead-up to the Battle of Britain. The bitter rivals finally lock horns on December 11 at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium in a blockbuster fight that has been over a decade in the making.Joshua is getting all the advice he can get ahead of his upcoming clash with FuryGettyThroughout the build-up to fight night, one of the major talking points has been AJ’s training team. For his last two fights against Jake Paul and Kristian Prenga, Joshua was taken under Oleksandr Usyk‘s wing, with Iegor Golub assuming the role of head trainer.Ahead of his bout with Fury, Joshua confirmed that he has once again reunited with ‘The Gypsy King’s’ former coach Ben Davison. This didn’t come as much of a shock as AJ has been pictured at Davison’s training facility in Essex over the last few weeks. What took everyone by surprise, however, was what Joshua said next.Anthony Joshua’s unlikely link-up with Peter Fury“I speak to Peter Fury,” said Joshua. “He’s willing to help me as well. Yeah, I’ll speak to him.“I last spoke to him about a month ago. I speak to Matty Harris quite a lot, and he is trained by Peter, so that’s how it all came about; through Matty and Peter.”Peter famously guided Fury to the best win of his career against Wladimir Klitschko in Dusseldorf in 2015.It proved to be their final outing together as Fury spent three years on the sidelines battling his demons with drink and drugs.Peter and Tyson have been estranged ever since, and now, the esteemed trainer is giving tips and pointers to his nephew’s arch nemesis.Peter trained Tyson for a considerable stretch of his careerAsked if Peter has imparted any valuable advice, Joshua added: “Yeah, but not about Fury, but our training and our approach, how I can approach the fight. “Not sort of, ‘Fury does this’; it was more, ‘I’ve seen what you do’, and this is where he thinks he can improve.“It goes back to saying that everybody wants me to win, everybody’s going to tell me how to win.“But the most important person to listen to is myself at this point in my career. “So I’ve got to take everything with a pinch of salt.“But what I was saying is it wasn’t so much to [get] Ben and Peter to go to people that have worked with Fury before. “The reason why I worked with them is because they pinpoint things.”Watch Boxing on DAZN*If you click a link in this boxout, we will earn affiliate revenueSign up to DAZN to access the definitive subscription for boxing fans.Upgrade to DAZN Ultimate from just £24.99/month, guaranteeing access to 185+ fights annually, a minimum of 12 pay-per-views at no extra cost, as well as every Lega Serie A match and other elite football access.Alternatively, DAZN Standard is just £15.99/month, with the caveat you will have to pay for pay-per-view events.Click here to sign up.
