On Wednesday, a significant explosion occurred at the Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd in Jokatte. Residents from nearby areas reported tremors and shaking of their houses after the incident. A loud noise and large plume of black smoke were visible from distant locations as well. Fire tenders from multiple locations have responded to control the fire at the refinery site.
