In a repeat of the GI Bing Crosby Stakes July 25, Listenupshance (g, 4, Shancelot-Listenupnow, by Hard Spun) outfinished Maximum Bourbon (Maximum Security) Sunday in the GII Santa Anita Sprint Championship Stakes. Contested over six furlongs at Santa Anita, the Sprint Championship is a a 'Win and You're In' for the GI Breeders' Cup Sprint, which will be held Oct. 31 at Keeneland.With the race scratched down to just three horses, Maximum Bourbon bounced out on top from his outside post and angled over to the rail. An instant later, Listenupshance found his stride and rushed to the front, taking command with March of Time (Justify) to his outside in second and Maximum Bourbon in third. The trio stayed that way through :21.98 and :43.86 splits, with Listenupshance kicking clear in the lane despite hanging on his wrong lead for much of the stretch drive. Maximum Bourbon tried to catch him, finishing about three-quarters of a length back at the wire. Listenupshance finished the six furlongs in 1:08.70.Last seen in that Bing Crosby win, Listenupshance won the first race of his 2026 campaign that day while registering a 104 Beyer Speed Figure.
