High pressure over Florida is also bringing additional moisture into the area, increasing the possibility of rain and thunderstorms as the week continues.The change begins Wednesday, September 30, with rain chances ranging from 20% to 50%, primarily from afternoon showers and thunderstorms.Conditions become more unsettled Thursday, when rain chances increase to between 40% and 60%.Friday currently looks like the biggest concern for guests trying to squeeze in a full park day. Rain chances rise to between 50% and 70%, while temperatures continue climbing.Afternoon highs Thursday and Friday are expected to reach the upper 80s and low 90s. However, humidity could make it feel considerably hotter.Peak heat index values could reach between 98 and 103 degrees.That is quite a turnaround after Disney World recently experienced some of its most comfortable weather in months.Afternoon Storms Could Disrupt Park PlansThe heat isn’t the only issue Disney World guests need to prepare for.Thunderstorms are expected to develop during the afternoons, bringing the possibility of frequent lightning, gusty winds, and locally heavy rainfall.That can create complications at all four Disney World theme parks, particularly for guests relying heavily on outdoor attractions.Lightning and severe weather can temporarily affect outdoor rides and entertainment. Even relatively brief storms can disrupt carefully planned itineraries when several attractions stop operating around the same time.Disney’s Animal Kingdom can become particularly vulnerable to weather disruptions because so much of the park’s attraction lineup involves outdoor experiences.Magic Kingdom also has several popular outdoor rides that can be affected when lightning enters the area.Guests shouldn’t necessarily assume rain means an entire afternoon will become a washout, either. Lows are expected to remain in the low to middle 70s, keeping conditions warm and muggy even after the sun disappears.For guests accustomed to spending nearly their entire vacation day inside the parks, this may be a week when slowing down becomes important.Disney World Guests Get Some Relief This WeekendThere is some better news for visitors arriving over the weekend.Saturday and Sunday are currently expected to offer a temporary improvement as moisture shifts north and west.Rain and thunderstorm chances should decrease compared with Thursday and Friday, although completely dry conditions aren’t guaranteed.Temperatures won’t fall dramatically, either. Afternoon highs are still expected to remain in the upper 80s and low 90s, while overnight temperatures stay in the low to middle 70s.Still, the reduced storm chances could make Saturday and Sunday considerably easier for guests trying to prioritize outdoor rides, entertainment, and other experiences vulnerable to Florida weather.Unfortunately, that improvement may not last long.Another Weather Change Is Coming Next WeekDisney World could face another round of unsettled weather as early as next week.A cold front is expected to move into the Deep South during the weekend before progressing into northern Florida.
