Disney has removed some exterior theming from Space Mountain ahead of a major reimagining scheduled to begin at the end of 2027. For the last ten years, the Discoveryland roller coaster has operated as the Star Wars-themed Hyperspace Mountain.Hyperspace Mountain will close at the end of 2027 to allow Walt Disney Imagineers to “bring back the Moon” in Discoveryland. The overhaul will include extensive technical work and much-needed maintenance upgrades, as well as indoor sets and props, an enhanced queue, and new special effects, creating a modern version of the attraction’s beloved original storyline.
