A no trespassing sign has been installed on the roadway that will eventually lead to the new resort, and the wording leaves absolutely no room for interpretation. The location holds some history too, since it sits on the former grounds of Disney’s River Country, the resort’s original water park that closed permanently years ago. Building a brand new resort on that footprint gives the area a genuinely fresh purpose after sitting dormant for a long stretch.What Guests Can Expect Once the Resort OpensCredit: DisneyDisney’s Lakeshore Lodge is set to open July 1, 2027, with 967 rooms spanning a wide range of accommodation styles. Each room type draws inspiration from classic Disney animated films, paired with natural materials and earthy color palettes meant to reflect the resort’s outdoor setting along Bay Lake.The most unique offering is the resort’s Waterfront Lake Houses, one and two bedroom freestanding retreats featuring dramatic A-frame architecture and floor to ceiling windows overlooking the water. These houses sleep up to five or eight guests depending on size, and each includes a private porch, full kitchen, and washer and dryer. The interior artwork celebrates Brother Bear, incorporating the film’s Alaskan setting, with a Northern Lights inspired lighting feature adding a striking touch to the primary bedroom after dark.Duo studios lean into the colorful spirit of Encanto, offering a cozy option for two guests. Deluxe studios and one or two bedroom villas draw from Bambi, bringing woodland charm through natural materials and archival concept artwork, with villas sleeping up to five or nine guests depending on configuration.
