Friday: leave the office. Saturday: feet in the sand. Sunday: home. I built a site that finds the best way there and back.

Wait 5 sec.

I wanted real weekend getaways: leave work Friday, fly somewhere good, be home Sunday. But I suffer from decision paralysis and juggling flights/hotels across a bunch of tabs, so I built a tool to do it for me. And I turned it into LeaveFriday (leavefriday.com). What it does: every Sunday it checks nonstop flights from seven California airports (I’m within reasonable distance to a handful of them) to 24 destinations, keeps the ones that leave Friday after work and come back Sunday, pairs each with a shortlist of hotels, and shows one total price. All the trips gets a Weekend Score based on flight timing, hotel guest reviews, total cost, and travel time. Example from Sunday's check: Denver from LAX, leaving Friday at 4:15 PM, estimated around $797 for the roundtrip nonstop flight plus 2 nights at a Hyatt in downtown Denver. Weekend score 65/100. I'd love any feedback or things I might of missed. Specifically, does the Weekend Score match what you'd expect? As I'm still tweaking that metric. It's only in CA right now, but I'm thinking of expanding to other states. Also, the hotel Book buttons are affiliate links, so if you book, the site gets a small commission. It's how the site covers its costs without fees, ads, memberships, or paywalls etc. http://leavefriday.com submitted by /u/bucketboy12 [link] [comments]
