Hi all, for over 10 years I tutored, and I specialized in language arts for first gen Americans and also in college test prep. I helped average SAT scorers and teens chasing perfect scores. A few years ago, I tapered off tutoring and went full-time working for a curriculum company. Now that education industry is so shaky, I want to restart tutoring and get about 10 students on my roster. Since college admissions are reinstating SAT requirements, I am focusing on the online test. So I've got my 10-lesson SAT course outline, my flyer is ready, I'm getting accustomed to the testing changes, etc. All of this I am confidence navigating. What I'm uneasy about is filling 10 slots. About 5 years ago when I left tutoring, I had a full roster from referrals. My inclination is to get in touch with a few families who still have teens and ask them to reach out to their school counselors. Has anyone had luck with this method? Any other tips on how a tenured tutor can re-establish a private roster? submitted by /u/edu-ellie [link] [comments]
