The following week against the Chicago Bears was a much scrappier affair, with touchdowns difficult to come by for either team as the Vikings and Murray eked their way to a 9-3 victory on a day which was overshadowed by an injury to Bears franchise star Caleb Williams.Murray was cleared to return in Week 3, and the former No. 1 overall pick made the most of his opportunity to get his career back on track. In a 23-16 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Murray completed 15-of-29 passing for 168 yards and a touchdown, albeit firing an interception to give the Vikings their third straight win to start the season.The one caveat, though, is the loss of star wide receiver Justin Jefferson to an ankle sprain.“It’s only week three, it’s only week three. That was my first game realistically, really, and again, like I said, 18 went down,” Murray said post-game. “I think we’re going to get better each and every week. I think that’s what our plan is. Obviously, like I said today, we didn’t feel like we played our best game.”The status of Jefferson remains unknown, with reports he could yet return for the clash against the Dolphins, but for Murray and the Vikings, the only way is up.
