All 23 crew members aboard a Malta-flagged oil tanker have been rescued after the vessel came under attack off the coast of Oman.The M/T KAVOMALEAS was targeted while sailing near Omani waters, with Maltese authorities confirming that no casualties have been reported.The Ministry for Sustainable Mobility said it is closely monitoring the incident and remains in constant contact with the vessel’s managers, representatives and the relevant authorities as investigations continue.Malta’s Merchant Shipping Directorate and the country’s Rescue Coordination Centre (RCC Malta) have been involved since the first alert, coordinating with Omani authorities throughout the rescue operation.Sustainable Mobility Minister Chris Bonett welcomed confirmation that everyone on board had been brought safely ashore, thanking the Omani authorities for their swift response.“The safety of seafarers remains our foremost priority. We are relieved that all crew members have been rescued safely and are grateful to the Omani authorities for their prompt assistance,” Bonett said.The government said Malta will continue monitoring the situation while fulfilling its responsibilities as the vessel’s flag state and cooperating with the relevant international authorities.•
