The next game developed by From Software is finally ready for the spotlight, and it’s actually going to be playable soon, too. The Duskbloods was first revealed last year as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, and hasn’t been heard from or seen much since. But with the network test happening in a month, it appears likely that the game is not far off from release. Image via From Software Sign-ups for The Duskbloods’ closed network test are now open, and players can link their Nintendo accounts for a chance to try it out when it goes live at the end of August. But not everyone will get in, unfortunately. As a massive fan of From Software titles like Elden Ring and Bloodborne, I’m naturally excited for this test, but I’m even more curious than usual because this game has been more secretive than most. “Become a Bloodsworn of Dusk—a supernatural being imbued with special abilities by the power of blood—and leap into online battles of up to eight players,” the game’s description reads. “The Bloodsworn have been summoned to do battle at the Dusk of Humanity. Form transient alliances and bitter rivalries alike as you take on enemies and compete for the right to First Blood.” As a PvEvP title, it sure sounds like The Duskbloods is going to lean more into the online multiplayer aspect of From Software, even more so than games like Dark Souls which allow for jolly cooperation. Competitive or cooperative multiplayer seems to be the name of the game, as players could be tasked with fighting PvE bosses while also contending with other players in what sounds like the studio’s spin on the extraction genre. Plus, this is a Switch 2 exclusive, so the audience feels like it’s way more focused and niche than even its most hardcore titles.
