Guests have experienced more obstacles trying to visit Walt Disney World Resort hotels without reservations this week.Since June 28, Disney World has restricted buses and boats from Disney Springs to guests with hotel stays, dining reservations, or Enchanting Extras bookings. Over Fourth of July, the Polynesian checked reservations on the Transportation and Ticket Center walkway and required resort wristbands for its beach and pool, blocking non-guests from popular Magic Kingdom fireworks-viewing areas.Now, guests are experiencing trouble using the boat services from Magic Kingdom to Magic Kingdom Area resort hotels.Guests Asked for More Documentation to Visit Disney ResortsGuests trying to board Disney Water Transportation were asked for proof of a hotel reservation when attempting to cross Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, including the Villas & Bungalows, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.Credit: Disney“I recently got stopped and asked to show my keycard or app to check if I had a reservation or was staying at one of the resorts so I could use the boat transit,” a guest wrote on Reddit.Another guest had a similar experience trying to access the Polynesian via water taxi on a weekend.Notably, multiple guests were trying to use the water taxis after Magic Kingdom closed for the evening. With table service restaurants and Enchanting Extras unavailable at this time of night, it’s not totally surprising that Disney would want to restrict boat transportation to those trying to get back to their resorts for the evening.Some have also raised the fact that it poses a potential safety issue to have non-resort guests wandering around the resorts at night.Credit: DisneyIt’s also worth noting that this doesn’t seem to be a blanket rule. Some guests have been able to use the water taxis from Magic Kingdom to resorts in the area without issue – both during and after the operating day.“I had no problem going to Fort Wilderness yesterday when Magic Kingdom was open, nobody was stopping people,” one guest said. “I can understand after the park closes them wanting to limit access, most everything is closed then what were you planning on doing.”Lately, Disney’s wording has fueled speculation that holiday resort hopping could be limited to hotel guests and visitors with dining or experience reservations in 2026.
