Special Intervention Unit officer Johann Vella is no longer in a life-threatening condition following yesterdays shootout in St Julian’s.Vella remains in the Intensive Care Unit at Mater Dei Hospital, where he is in a stable condition and recovering from the serious injuries he sustained to his face and neck.The officer was critically injured during a police operation after an armed suspect allegedly set fire to a construction site before exchanging gunfire with officers. The suspect later surrendered following a tense standoff.Another officer, Constable Omar Sharif, suffered minor injuries during the incident.Wishing Johann Vella a continued recovery.•
