You cant just show up to the food bank if youre not registered. You have to get on their list of clients first at most places and that involves an appointment where they look at your finances and any possible alternatives you have other than the food bank. So for a lot of people if you just have a really bad month with an unexpected car repair or wtv you cant just show up at the food bank for a one off
