A tragic incident at sea late last night has claimed the lives of a man and his young son after the dinghy they were in was hit by a larger boat. The 43-year-old man and the five-year-old boy from St Paul’s Bay were on a small dinghy in Ġnejna Bay at around 1am when the other boat – being driven by a 43-year-old man Rabat – seems to have hit them. Members of the Civil Protection Department were instantly dispatched to the scene to search for the father and son, who were heartbreakingly both found dead shortly after. The two boats, including the heavily damaged dinghy, were also brought onto shore. Magistrate Dr Joe Mifsud is leading the inquiry, with police investigations still underway. Lovin Malta extends its heartfelt condolences to the victims’ family, friends and loved ones during this difficult time.•
