A total of 222 domestic violence cases were reported in Malta between 1st January and 13th July of this year, according to figures tabled in Parliament.The data shows that 1,606 domestic violence cases have been reported between 2021 and 13th July of this year, highlighting the continued prevalence of domestic abuse across the country.Last year saw the highest number of reports in the period covered, with 541 cases recorded in 2025, up from 425 in 2024.Meanwhile, Justice Minister Clifton Grima confirmed that three magistrates are currently assigned to handle domestic violence-related cases.For anyone experiencing domestic violence or concerned about child abuse, the Foundation for Social Welfare Services (FSWS) operates its 179 support line, while those in immediate danger are urged to contact the Malta Police Force by calling 112.People with hearing or speech impairments can also contact the police via text on 7977 0112.If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, support is available, and you do not have to face it alone.•
