Major Severance Season 3 Update From Ben Stiller And The Creator Has Me And Other Fans Hyped

Wait 5 sec.

Sing it with me, everyone! “Kier, chosen one, Kier. Kier, brilliant one, Kier.” Everyone’s favorite fearless, mysterious, possibly incestuous and murderous founding father Kier Egan was quoted today by Severance creator Dan Erickson and EP Ben Stiller, in an update that seems to finally confirm that Season 3 is at last kicking off production. Of course, fans like me are experiencing a perfectly proper swing between jubilant elation and suspicious disbelief. Check out Dan Erickson’s Instagram post below, which matches a bizarrely blurry shot of Mark S. and Helly R. running the halls during the Season 2 finale’s tragic final moments with a quote from Sir Egan himself. A post shared by Dan Erickson (@instadan360)A photo posted by on Okay, Kier Egan isn't actually a royal knight. Maybe it was just a Freudian slip regarding all the children he's probably sired (both before and after his death). Enough about all that weirdness, though, because we're supposed to be celebrating what appears to be confirmation that production on Season 3 is kicking off. The fact that Ben Stiller shared the same photo and Egan quote on X probably isn't proof enough, but I dare say these comments from those in the know seem to indicate good things. Apple TV: The great work has begun once again.Michael Chernus: YESTo be sure, it's not a 100% lock that the person running Apple TV's social media is directly in the loop for when Severance Season 3 is officially in motion, but it's fair for one to lean into making that assumption. That comment could have been far more generally positive without referencing the great work. The same idea can be applied to Ricken Hale actor Michael Chernus, but again, I'm going with optimism here, since it matches up with the July start date that was previously rumored.(Image credit: Apple TV)In fact, I'll be so optimistic as to think that this blurred-up image wasn't taken during the filming of Season 2's finale, but is actually part of new footage being filmed, since Season 3 is likely going to pick up where the finale left off. (And if not that, you know they're going to reference it in flashbacks.) And until someone proves otherwise, I'm going to keep trying to manifest it into existence. In the meantime, here's how a bunch of other Severance fans reacted to the news. (Minus untold numbers of "Mr. Milchick dancing" GIFs.) And I will savor every single one of those comments like the most coveted of egg bar offerings. Did you hear that, Adam Scott, Britt Lower, Zack Cherry, John Turturro and others?
